Goodnight, sweet prince

FINALLY!

I mean, it's been a lot of fun, but let's face it..... fairly time consuming. I've enjoyed making this Hamlet-themed blog, but bring in the flights of angels. I'm movin' on.

My favorite parts of this exercise???? Well, let's see.....

I love Library Thing and will continue to use it. Flickr is fun and was a great source for Hamlet Trading Card pictures. I'm proud that I conquered Billiards, but probably won't spend much time playing it in the future. I ate at Sushi Rocks restaurant in Fort Lauderdale after seeing it reviewed on a Yelp City Guide. It was just as good as advertised. Try the Spider Roll next time you're in the area.

Would I participate in a similar program in the future? Sure!
Just not right now...............OK?

Online Applications and Library 2.0 Awards

The possibilities for using online applications seems to be endless. It was fascinating to see what people are doing with them. I was already familiar with Google Docs through my Google account, so I decided not to open a Zoho Writer account.

I enjoyed browsing through the Web 2.0 Award sites. I was already familiar with a few of tham such as Craig's List, Google Maps, and 43 Things. I checked out PeerTrainer, an online weight loss support group, Ma.gnolia, a bookmarking site, Biblio, a book search site, Cocktail Builder (exactly what it sounds like), Upcoming, an events site, and Farecast and Kayak, both travel sites showing comparative prices of airline tickets. Farecast, in particular, was interesting because it forecasts whether airline prices are expected to rise or fall. My favorite site was Yelp. I used the Yelp city guides for Miami and Fort Lauderdale to search out some good restaurants.

Wikis

Wikis are interesting and seem to offer a lot of possibilities for enhancing communication between staff members in a library system the size of LCLS.

Del.icio.us, Technorati and Library 2.0

I set up a del.icio.us account and explored a little bit. I love the concept of tagging. I also enjoyed Technorati and watching the new blog posts come up every few seconds. There are obviously an infinite number of possibilities with Library 2.0. Unfortunately many FM patrons are not as wired as the people referred to in the featured posts. The physical library building is still pretty necessary in this neck of the woods.

Library Thing

Library Thing is a wonderful resource for readers and a great site to explore. I'm not particularly interested in starting my own catalog, but I love to read what contributors have to say about books and I will use this site to browse for titles that I might want to read..
